The Whereabouts are a young, energetic four piece Rhythm & Blues, Rock band from Kingscourt in Co. Cavan, Ireland.
Officially formed in 2013 by four best friends who have been playing music together since high school, The Whereabouts were influenced by their parents (also musicians), and their love of such bands as The Rolling Stones, Dr Feelgood, The Doors, The Beatles, The Kinks and Chuck Berry.
The Whereabouts are:
Wayne Watters Reilly – Lead Vocals, Guitar and Harmonica
Joseph Adcock – Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals
Scott Sheenan – Lead Guitar
Dara Curtis – Drums
Shortly after forming, The Whereabouts entered a national competition and were placed 2nd overall. Spurred on by their success in the competition, the lads decided to record an E.P. of original songs and a music video.
The music video came to the attention of rock legend Kim Fowley in California who recommened the band to Steve Strange (Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, Blur, Kodaline), Stirling McIlywaine (Daughtry), and Andy Gould (Rob Zombie, Pantera, Linkin Park, Guns & Roses). The Whereabouts signed a management agreement with Strange, McIlwayne and Gould and began their professional career as a band.
Over the last 2 years The Whereabouts have performed and worked with some of the biggest names in the business such as Kodaline, Stereophonics, Daughtry, Imagine Dragons, UB40, Imelda May, Hudson Taylor, Eagles Of Death Metal, Electric Six and Ian Broudie.
The Whereabouts have toured extensively across Ireland, Northern Ireland and England, playing at such prestigious venues as Electric Picnic, Belsonic, Daytripper, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Indiependence Festival and NYF Dublin. From The INEC, Killarney to The Olympia, Dublin, Mandela Hall, Belfast to The Roundhouse, London, The Whereabouts have ignited the stage and wowed fans with their electrifying performances.
Featured live on RTE Television, on TV3 and on national and international radio stations such as RTE Radio, BBC Radio Ulster (Stuart Bailie), BBC Radio 2 (Dermot O’Leary), playlisted on KROQ in the USA, and featured in The Blues Magazine, The Whereabouts have covered a lot of ground in a short space of time.
With a potent cocktail of musicianship, youthful energy and a collective drive and hunger to ignite the world’s stages and airwaves, The Whereabouts are blazing a powerful trail. Keep watching, because The Whereabouts are about to explode onto a stage near you!
