With Sea Sessions moving into it’s tenth year the Hurley: Surf Expression Session forms an integral part of the festival.
The event is only open to an elite invited group of surfers who compete for a prize pot of €2500. It is a champion of champions event. The event has a small number of competitors to ensure that we can capitalize on good conditions and show case the cream of Europe. Instead of a combined heat score the event is won on the best one off manoeuvre. This gives the surfers the freedom to try the biggest tricks rather than surfing tactically and makes the event spectator friendly.
Some of the best free surfers in Europe have won the event over the years with surfers from France, Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, England and in 2014 Irelands Geroid McDaid. Liam Turner is returning from the UK to defend his title. Fellow brit Rubyen Ash lit up last years event with some huge moves but just couldnt get the right wave in the final is also returning. Aussie Noah Lane and Portugese ripper Pedro Correia and Irish star Geroid McDaid will be among those hopping to win the event this year.
