Its been quite some 12 months for Brand New Friend. Fronted by siblings Taylor and LaurenJohnson, the band released their debut EP in the summer, led by the 2 minute instant classic American Wives, and immediately found themselves the talk of Belfast.
The track found its way to Phil Taggart at Radio One, who played it on his show several times, withother radio support coming from Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music and new music stalwarts Across The Line on BBC Radio Ulster. Tipped by the Irish Mirror to be one of THE bands to look out for in 2017,
Brand New Friend have been playing incendiary shows across Ireland, being singled out by media for their performances at Dublin’s One’s To Watch Festival and at Outlook Festival in Belfast.
Taylor Johnson is one of those songwriters, the type who can effortlessly roll out tune after tune. Their debut EP featured 5 slices of instant pop, 2017 will see a string of releases that take Brand New Friend to a new level. Already attracting the attention of several international record labels, the band are gearing up to announce their next Belfast headline show, following on from a sold out and packed Lavery’s gig at the end of last year.
